    Preschool Staff

    Experienced teachers prepare a loving environment
     
    Pennie Burke is our preschool teacher and has been with the preschool program since its inception in the fall of 2000. She received her certification in 1983 through the Houston Montessori Training Center in Houston, Texas.  She is certified by the American Montessori Society and received a bachelor’s degree from Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, Illinois. She taught in Texas for five years before moving to Spartanburg, SC, where she taught for 11 years at the Montessori Academy and Montessori West, Ltd.  She also taught at the Montessori Preschool of Columbia before joining us.


    Lois Scales is our elementary aftercare director and preschool assistant.  She has more than twenty-five years of experience working with children and has worked in Montessori preschool and elementary school environments for twenty years. She has been Ms. Burke’s assistant since 2000 and the aftercare director since 1996.

    The school also employs art, music, and Spanish instructors for the preschool program.
