Great Teachers Unleashed

Daryll Murono, a founding member of the school, teaches grades one through three in our lower elementary and received her certification as Montessori teacher in 1991 through the Center for Montessori Teacher Education in New Rochelle, New York. Daryll graduated from Boston University with a degree in American Studies and received a master’s degree in Library Science from Rutgers University. She has worked as a librarian in academic, public, and school libraries.

Sue Cate
is the lead teacher for grades four through six in our upper elementary classroom.  Last year she apprenticed with MSC founding teacher Barb Richstad and completed her 9-12 Montessori training at the Center for Montessori Teacher Education in Raleigh, North Carolina.  This year she is pursuing 6-9 certification, also in Raleigh.  The experiences of her children sparked her enthusiasm for the Montessori method. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, Sue holds a degree in history from Wake Forest University. After graduating from college she lived for three years in Europe and then worked for sixteen years as a writer in the publishing industry.

Jacquelin Jackson
is our lower elementary school assistant. She has been a Montessori assistant for more than twenty years. She taught at the Montessori Preschool of Columbia for fourteen years, at Brockman Elementary School for two years, and at our preschool for one year before joining Mrs. Daryll in lower elementary.

Misty Dickson is our upper elementary assistant.  She graduated from USC with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  Misty taught first grade in South Carolina for two years.  She returned to USC for a master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education.  After substitute teaching a year for a variety of grades and subjects, Misty taught first and second grades in Indiana for five years.  She stopped teaching to stay home with her children and is eager to return to the classroom.

The school also employs art, music, Spanish, and Latin instructors for the elementary program.
